For a variety of reasons, Kaua`i faces the highest energy rates in the nation. One thing is clear--there is a need to move quickly to dramatically reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Part of the solution lies in eating locally, becoming more self-sufficient (individually and as a community), consuming less, riding the bus and our bikes more. We should all be capable of reducing our own energy usage through conservation and efficiency. If you donʻt have a solar water heater, through tax breaks and rebates you can get one with minimal investment and quick return.
