JUSTICE FOR JA VAN!
Ja Van Yiu Lin is a 2008 Wai'anae High School graduate who joined the National Guard believing that he would be serving his country.
In July 2008, at basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, a drill instructor recklessly threw a metal bed frame that struck Ja Van in the head, giving him a concussion and causing him to lose partial vision and hearing on his left side. When Ja Van's story was shared with the public, his military leaders retaliated against him and have isolated him from his family.
Despite a doctor's conclusion that Ja Van's injuries may be permanent and recommendation that Ja Van be discharged from the military for medical reasons, the military has dragged its feet on his discharge. They have subjected him to psychological abuse.
Ja Van needs
1. Immediate medical attention from independent medical specialists
2. Immediate release from military service
3. Long term medical care and disability benefits if his condition requires it
Ja Van wants to come home now. His family and friends are very concerned about his health and safety and are mounting an effort to get Ja Van home quickly and safely. The family has hired a GI Rights attorney in Oklahoma and is planning to visit him. Ja Van's family desperately needs to raise funds to pursue justice for Ja Van.
