Please join us for the debut presentation of the new and exciting Ho`oulu Hawaiian Lecture Series this coming Saturday, November 29 from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Mälama Kaua`i Center in Kïlauea. Entitled, "Lono I Ka Makahiki! Sacred Season of Peace & Rejuvenation" the program will illuminate upon the social, political and religious aspects of Makahiki, as well as the respective activities conducted by the chiefs and common people during this seasonal period. Mo`o Lono -- the priesthood of Lono who was responsible for officiating sacred rites connected to Makahiki will also be expanded upon. An overview of ceremonies, traditions and customary events surrounding the prestigious sports tournaments and hula celebrations of ancient times will be incuded as well. This special presentation is sponsored by the non-profit organizations - Ka`ie`ie Foundation and Malama Kaua`i. Admission is free, donations are welcome. | ||
