Howzit folks,

I want to do some sign holding in front of the State building facing Rice Street during lunch time (12 to 1) and again on the highway/sidewalk across Mcdonald's around 4 to 5pm in support of the righteous action taken to protect the iwi of Kanaka Maoli at Naue. It's not a major demo but something speedily planned to inform the public (mostly working folks) on the issue. If you can make it fine. I'll be making a few signs about respecting this site- I think many people can relate to this issue but get confused with the "property rights" bullshit of the developer. The site should be protected and preserved, no ifs and or buts- if Brescia loses money, well too bad. It's about time that the rights of the Kanaka come first! Please spread the word.

Marty Aranaydo is the director of Ruckus's Indigenous Peoples' Power
Project. He is of the Bear Clan of HVLVPE KVNATE Ceremonial Grounds of
the Muskogee Nation of Oklahoma. Oakland, California born and raised,
Martin has been engaged in Social Justice Organizing and Activism since
the age of fourteen. Martin is a member of the School of Unity and
Liberation (S.O.U.L.) training collective and is on of the Curriculum
Council of the Indigenous Environmental Network's (IEN) Youth Program where
he is also a core trainer.

Join us for a stimulating discussion about Ruckus’s mission and
history, the current state of social movement building, as well as some
thoughts on how direct action and protest can be useful for achieving
positive social change.
