Aloha Friends and Allies
During today's program, we will be playing excerpts of a recorded interview I did with
Claude Marks, a curator of the Freedom Archives, about state supression of radical
social movements in the US. (http://freedomarchives.org/)
Also, today KKCR's fall membership drive starts up and I wanted to give you a
head's up about the amazing donations we will be giving away to people who call
in and donate DURING OUR PROGRAM ONLY today, Thursday, Nov. 6 between 4 and 5:30.
It goes against our nature to exhort people to pledge at various "levels"
in order to get these gifts. On our program, our custom is to give everyone an equal chance to get one of these premiums, no matter if you give $5 or $500.
Our sense is that we can all trust that we will make rational decisions based on
a combination of our financial situations and how valuable community radio programming and media justice is to us.
Donating during this program will be a vote of confidence for the kind of alternative
social-justice-directed public affairs programming we strive to bring you.
If you have a preference for any particular book or magazine, let the person who answers the phone know!
The generous folks at some of our favorite publishing collectives, journals and
organizations came through again with these terrific gifts:
From AK Press:
-Everywhere All the Time: A New Deschooling Reader, ed. by Ed Hern
-Free Comrades: Anarchism and Homosexuality in the United States, 1895-1917, by
Terrence Kissack

HLPJ opposes US-led efforts to privatize Iraq's resources and undermine Iraqi unions, and pledges to fight against efforts to increase US intervention in the region.
